Fall 2014 – 5 – El Torito Banner 2014

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the principles of design by re-designing a real-world banner advertisement.

Assignment:

  1. Visit StudentsTempFiles and open “5 – El Torito Banner 2014.pdf” for the assignment instructions.
  2. See the document entitled “CGD1 – El Torito Ad Rubric 2014.pdf” for the exact criteria under which this assignment will be graded. Make sure you have all the elements in the “4” column to ensure you get the highest grade possible!
  3. When you are satisfied that your page layout meets all the assignment requirements, save it with your name in the filename and turn in a copy to the appropriate Student Drop Folder on the class file server.

Fall 2014 – 3 – Design Principles – Contrast

Objective: Students will identify and explain the Principles of Design, and effectively identify when these principles are (or are not) being used in a published work.

Assignment:

  1. Visit StudentsTempFiles and open “3 – Design Principles”
  2. Read “5 – README – Contrast Chapter”.
  3. Create a new page in your existing Design Principles InDesign document, and answer the questions in the “Design Principles 2013-14 – Contrast.pdf” document.
  4. When you have completed the questions, save the document with a filename that contains your name and the words “Design Principles”, and place a copy in the /StudentsTempFiles/Student Drop Folder/<your class period>/3 – Design Principles subfolder to turn it in.
