Topics Discussed:
- Principles of Design
- Alignment
Assignment:
- Today we will cover the principles of Alignment (lining objects up along a horizontal or vertical visual line), Repetition (repeating elements of design throughout the document), and Contrast (making design elements different so they stand out and attract attention) .
- Once again, pay close attention to the examples presented so you can see how Alignment, Repetition and Contrast work together to help organize and clarify and attract attention published documents.
- Update your flyer in InDesign with the definitions and graphics representing Alignment, Repetition and Contrast. Use Images, Text and the Principles of Design (C.R.A.P.) that we have been studying over the last few days to design a page that lists all four principles, explains what each principle means, and visually demonstrates what each principle looks like.
- For each of the four principles (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity), create a new text box and write at least one complete sentence in your own words about what each principle means (as it pertains to design), then use images (or text) to demonstrate what each of the four principles looks like.
- Your page should be full with all four principles! We’ll turn this document in to the Google Classroom page on Friday!
- Remember the Principles of Design (C.R.A.P.): Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity, and let them guide all your decisions as you build this page! Remember to create a strong focal point, and a strong eyeflow using the principles!
- You may turn this assignment in as soon as you have all four principles, neatly arranged on the page according to the Principles of C.R.A.P.
- Export the document as a High Quality PDF using the File -> Adobe PDF Presets -> High Quality Print option, and upload the finished .PDF file to the “Principles of Design” Assignment Post on our Google Classroom page by the end of the day on Friday.
