Step 7 – Presentation

Presentation of the final logo submissions and judging will occur today, Thursday, April 12th.

Take a look at the cabinets on the North wall of my classroom. You will see all of the logo designs that were submitted by the deadline in accordance with the published contest rules. The final judging will take place in fifth hour, as the Cybersecurity Team will conduct a vote for the single logo that they collectively would like to adopt to represent them in their future competitions. The winner of this vote will be declared the grand prize winner, and will be announced in all Graphic Design Classes tomorrow, Friday, April 13th. The winner will receive the grand prize $50 gift card and official recognition at the Magnet Awards Ceremony in May, as well as the credit for producing an award-winning logo for an emerging competitive high school e-sports team.

Take some time to get up and get a close look at all of the logo design contest entries. As you look at each design, ask yourself if it meets the six criteria for great logo design: simple, distinctive, relevant,
memorable, versatile and timeless. Even if it meets (or doesn’t meet) all of the criteria, does it have that “special something” like appealing shapes and colors, “hidden messages” or just some element that appeals to you on some level?

After looking at all of the entries, you will receive a sticky note. This note represents your vote for the best logo design. Please stick the note to the logo that (in your opinion) best represents the six principles of logo design, and more importantly, is most appealing to you. Ask yourself: which of these logos would I be willing to publish on a website, wear on a shirt or a hat, or like to see on a poster or a coffee mug?

At the end of the day, I will count up all the votes and the winner of the popular vote will be announced alongside the Grand Prize winner in all Graphic Design classes on Friday, April 13th, and then it will be time for the final step: Step 8 – Celebration! I’ll be sure to bring some snacks so we have something to celebrate with. Consider it my thanks for all your hard work throughout the eight step logo design process.
