Adobe Photoshop 2017 – Images in Text

Assignment:
Following the instructions in the above tutorials, or the instructions in the “Images in Text” worksheet linked below, use Photoshop CC and the “Create Clipping Mask” item in the”Layers” menu to produce a total of four “Image in Text” pictures:
  1. Your name with your picture inside the text (use the iSight camera and Photo Booth to take your own picture).
  2. A fall, harvest or holiday-related word with a seasonal picture inside the text (see the “Happy Thanksgiving” image in the instructions for an example)
  3. Any other words and picture of your choice. (Example: The word “Mustang” with a picture of a Mustang inside the word.)
  4. Place these three images, plus the “Pumpkins” image we created in class today into a folder with your name on it. You should now have four images (Pumpkins, Fall-related, Your-Face-in-Your-Name, and Your Choice).
  5. Try to turn these in by the end of the day today (Tuesday, November 1st). Upload them to today’s post in the Google Classroom.
  6. Do your best to get this done today, as we will be starting a new, multi-part project on Monday!

Adobe Photoshop 2017 – Rose Filters

Objective:

I can effectively utilize the capabilities of Filters in Adobe Photoshop.

Assignment:

• Click on the picture of the pretty white rose at the bottom of this page to open the full-size copy, and drag the full-size copy to your desktop. The file should be called “justrose.jpg”. Open this file in Photoshop.
• Open the Filter Gallery and search through the available filters, noting the properties panel on the right hand side for each.
• Change the photo using one of your favorite filters. Save the picture with the name of the filter you used (For example: ”Colored pencils.jpg”).
• Open a new copy of “justrose.jpg” and repeat this process four more times, with a different filter each time. You should have five pictures, each with a different filter, when you are done.
• Design a composition in InDesign using your five different pictures. One picture should be bigger than the rest (The focal point or “dominant image”).
• Pick out your favorite filter image to make the dominant image. Fill up the page with the pictures. Near each picture (using Proximity!), use the Type tool to write a caption with the name of the filter you used.
• When finished, save the file as <your name>.filters.indd, create a new folder with your name, place your InDesign file and all five of the rose pictures inside it and upload all the files to the “Rose Filters 2017” assignment post on our Google Classroom page.
