Assignment:

Today we will begin working on our logo design for an actual client. The client is Miss Kristi, owner and operator of Once Upon a Preschool, a home-based preschool located in Mesa.

As of today, every student designer in my classes is in competition to produce a logo that Miss Kristi will select as her own. In the next two weeks, you will work through the eight step process to produce a professional-looking logo for Once Upon a Preschool.

Following the final deadline in a few weeks, Miss Kristi herself will look at all the finished logos, and choose one as her favorite. The winner of this logo design contest will receive recognition at the end of the year Magnet Awards ceremony as well as a $50 cash prize, so do your best to write open-ended questions that will help you determine what Miss Kristi is looking for in a logo, and that will allow you to produce the professional business representation that Once Upon a Preschool needs to succeed!

Step 1 – The Design Brief

You will begin the logo design process by creating a new Word document, and writing five questions (in complete sentences) that you would like to ask Miss Kristi about what she would like to see in her logo. These should be open-ended questions (questions that do not have a yes or no answer). Try to ask questions that will help you understand what Miss Kristi wants in a logo, and that will help you produce something that she will want and increase your chances of winning the logo design competition. We will turn these questions in to folder “31 – Design Brief – 5 Questions” on Wednesday.

Your five questions will be submitted directly to Miss Kristi herself. She will answer them to the best of her ability, and they will be returned to you later this week or early next week to guide you in your design process.

Tomorrow, we will begin Steps 2 and 3 of the Logo Design Process: Research and Visual Research. If you finish your Design Brief questions before then, you may proceed with these steps.
