Objective:

 To effectively use Live Paint and Live Paint Select functions for recoloring shapes in Illustrator.

I can use Live Paint and the Live Paint Select tool to color shapes and strokes that I have drawn in Illustrator.

Assignment:

Watch the tutorial video link provided above. Follow the directions to learn more about how you can recolor vector shapes using Live Paint.

  1. After you have watched the tutorials, go to the second artboard in your Color Week 1 document.
  2. Using the Shape tool, draw five filled shapes that overlap each other.
  3. Next, follow the steps in the tutorial to activate Live Paint, and use Live Paint to color in the shapes you have drawn.
  4. Use the Live Paint Select tool (or the tool shortcuts demonstrated in the video) to recolor the strokes (lines).
  5. DO NOT use the Paint Brush, the Blob Brush or any other drawing tool to color in the shapes. Use Live Paint only.
  6. When all five shapes are successfully colored in and the strokes are recolored, save your document. We will continue to work with this document tomorrow.
